The Church of St. Nicholas
  • An exposition of baroque plastics that came from a pilgrimage journey which leads from the Eastern Czech town Králíky to the monastery in Hedeč

  • Vraclav lies 6 km Northwest from Vysoké Mýto

The Baroque area Vraclav is a separated workplace of the Regional Museum in Vysoké Mýto. It includes St. Nicholas´ Church, a building of a spa and a hermitage.

At the beginning of the 17th century a small chapel and a hermitage was built above a spring of curative water. The spa with bathrooms was built up in 1711 - 1719. A Baroque church was constructed on the place of the original chapel during 1724 - 1730, its author is C. A. Canevalle. The downgrade of the spa resulted in the general dilapidation of all objects at the end of the 18th century. The demanding reconstruction was carried out during 1976 - 1986

Today in the former spa there is an exhibition about the history of the community Vraclav. In St. Nicholas´ church there is placed a collection of unique Baroque plastics which come from the pilgrimage journey from Králíky to the monastery in Hedeč. The wooden polychromed plastics in mildly above-life size were created around 1740. An anonymous author of passion scenes probably belonged to M. B. Braun´s followers.
